Labor Day Appreciation
From the roofer standing atop a house hammering in the hot sun, to the carpenter double checking her measurement before sawing the board, to the landscaper planting bushes in the yard, we pause this Labor Day to say thank you for all the hard work.
History and Celebration
Initially the different trade union all celebrated their worker on different days, so in 1894 the federal government consolidated the holiday and made it the first Monday in September. It marks the end of summer and begins the transition to autumn and for all the outdoor trades-workers in North Carolina the promise of cooler temperatures on the horizon. The Labor Day Weekend is often celebrated by fall festivals and runs for charity. It also signal final trips to the lake, beach, or camping as kids return to school.

Wener Navarro, the leader our Asphalt Roofing Team has a terrific perspective on the work we do at Patriot Roofing. “I love roofing! I feel blessed to wake up every day and be able to support my family… I immediately see the results of my team’s hard work.” The key to his success as our team leader is to “always bring a positive attitude with you.” And Wener’s attitude is incredible. After 5 days of 100º heat, he will still have a smile on is face and a funny story to tell. Safety, fun, and caring for the team are staples of his leadership.
The head of our Siding, Windows, and Doors crew, Michael Johnston is a true craftsman that loves what he does. Our work in the historic homes of Wilmington and across eastern North Carolina is bolstered by his craftsmanship and eye for detail.
