Hurricane Ready

Are You Hurricane Ready?

Living in hurricane alley, we understand how scary it can be if you are new to our coastal community. We have a few tips to be sure you are prepared when the storm heads our way.

  1. Schedule an Inspection

It’s important to be sure your roof can stand the test of the storm, so be sure your roof is secure and doesn’t have any leaks. Specifically, if you have any minor damage like loose shingles we can help! Most roofing companies don’t bother with small repairs, but at Patriot Roofing no job is too small or too big for our team. It’s important to us that our community neighbors are safe and can feel secure during a storm. Give us a call at 910-218-0600 or reach us at http://www.patriotroofer.com

  1. Check Your Gutters

Remove any debris in your gutters so the water can flow freely and away from the house.

  1. Exterior Repairs

We also help with exterior work. If you have any siding that has rotted or is broken, it is important to get that fixed before the storm. Patriot Roofing also offers repairs on windows and doors, along with siding and gutters. You also want to be sure you fill in any gaps or holes that water might get into.

  1. Don’t Forget About the Outdoors

Clean up the front porch and backyard so your lawn furniture doesn’t turn into flying debris, which could further damage your home. Store umbrellas, garbage cans, decorations, bikes and flowerpots in the garage or shed and tie down pool or lawn furniture.

  1. Install Shutters

Do what you can to protect your windows because when a window gets broken the force of the storm will fill the home with air. In that case, you want to make sure all the interior doors are also closed. If you don’t have time to get shutters, plywood is a good last-minute option.

  1. Make an Evacuation Plan

Sit down with your family and come up with a plan of action. Have your bags packed and ready to go in case you need to leave the area during the storm.

  1. Keep Contacts Up to Date

Make sure your loved ones and insurance agents phone numbers are plugged into your phone. Have a backup charger on hand as the power will likely be out during a storm.

  1. Stay Informed

Keep up to date on the current weather alerts. Follow the National Hurricane Center and keep informed with the local news. Be sure your location is enabled on your phone and buy a battery powered radio.
